High Mileage Fleet Van Advice Needed
Hi, new to this forum and diesels in general. I'm in the process of purchasing a 300k mile powerstroke pass. Van. It's a one owner that was used over the road. Possibly towed a trailer.
My question, what tips do you have to look for on a high mileage fleet vehicle? Apparently the trans and differential have be replaced at some point. Can I expect a little more life out of the engine if it's been maintained? thanks |

uh ok
injectors, blow by, burnin oil, smoke out the tail pipe, leaks, coolant leaks, oil condition or contamination, turbo shaft play,.. thats a start whats the specs on it. i bought my truck last year that had 325k on it at the time and required some work. |

well , when I check it out the best I can do is test drive it and visually inspect fluids etc. The owner says it's been maintained. Whatever that means.
One piece of advice from a tech was to unhook the turbo inlet and look at the turbo vanes for signs of wear. specs? I don't have any diagnostic details. |

thats what my po said. well the second owner said and i know him. i bought it from the third owner. anyway, mine was supposedly a fleet also and did all the maintenance too. and im told that my tranny is original too. and it has 326k now and now is showing issues.
uh on the turbo, remove the air intake hose(the big one) and look at the fins to see if they are bent. |
