Oil leak-underneath transmission
I have been trying to track down an oil leak, and just got under my truck to check it out and it seems the oil is leaking from a small plastic plug to the passenger side of the transmission and directly behind (to the rear of the truck) of the starter. The plug I was looking at looks like you could tighten it with a slotted screwdriver, but I tried to do that and it looks like the plastic plug will just snap if I apply pressure to it. Can I tap it back in with a hammer? Does it need to be replaced? It looks like a pretty weak plug-it's only about 3/8"

Bump bump...

I actually found two spots that are leaking-the second picture really concerns me as it looks like the metal in this opening at the bottom of my transmission is shredded somehow. Anybody know what could be going on? I'm scared!

Where is that second leak.

Oil is leaking in both of the pictures. The first one is leaking from the "plug" and in the second picture oil is coming through what seems to be punched in metal.

You can see in this picture that there is oil leaking out of the opening at the bottom of the transmission where the metal is pushed in in the second thumbnail.

Is it oil or brake fluid ?

I'm pretty sure it's oil-it's thick and dark, but I guess brake oil is too. Is there any way to really tell?

Possibly a slave cylinder leaking ? Having any disengagement problems ? Check for oil in valley, could be HPOP o-rings....its not common for 7.3s to have a rear main leak.

Shifting has been just fine. I have been meaning to change the turbo o rings-the have been leaking for a while- but the oil doesn't really look like it's dripping from the top down when I'm under the truck. The two pictures I posted above seem to be where the oil is coming from, and the second picture of the hole just doesn't look right to me at all-however I have no clue how the metal there could break...
