If you want to prevent rust use a product called KBS Coatings. Similar to POR15, but I think it is much better. I restored a 77 CJ5 from the ground up and used this stuff on everything I could. A little goes a long way!!!! You can take a hammer and smack this stuff and it won't chip. If you live in the saltbelt I would apply it to my frame, oil pan, trans pan and diff covers but that's me!!
