power sliding rear window

One thing I really want on my next SD is a power sliding rear window.

Has anybody swapped in a Ford psrw into an SD that did not come equipped? Where did you get the window, and how much to install? Any kind of fab work required to install in a pre-04 SD?

And, are there any options besides Ford? Pics helpful...

I put one in my 99. I found it on craigs list and I think I gave either $100 or $150 for it. It was brand new, I had to paid $75 to get it installed but after watching the guy do it, I should have done it myself. I had to wire it myself but that was no biggie. Other than that, there was no modification required.

I'm interested in this also and my dog would love it.How does the mechanism work? Is it sumtin that will fill up with dust and sand? Anybody got pics?

The guy I bought it from said it was a factory Ford window. IIRC, the motor is probably a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes. I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow.

The window is cable operated. There's a cable that comes out of each end of the window and the sliding glass is attatched to the cable. Unless you got a whole lot of dirt in the track, I don't see there being a problem with it.

Being that Ford wanted like $30 for the stupid switch, I bought one from Radio Shack. One day, I'll get un-lazy and go to the junkyard and rob a factory switch out of a truck.....
