ticking noise getting louder????????

I have a ticking noise that started about 2 weeks ago. It is now getting louder. The noise goes away when you put it in neutral. Anyone ever had this happen? It sound like if you have an exhaust leak on a gasser and you hear the rocker. Sounds almost like lifter noise. Any help would greatly help!!

Is your truck an automatic? If so, it may be a noisy torque converter. I've heard others say the 99's were problematic for this.

stick shift. I can hear it a little bit at idle if I rev the engine a little. But I hear it a lot when driving.
