hey im lookin at an 01 f350 crew cab diesel with 164,000 on it. what do u think is that too much or does it still have a ways to go..i'll probly be doin some offroadin with it, lifting it, etc.

If its been taken care of, its got a ways to go.

things to look for on high milage trucks:

-does it have a gooseneck hitch? if so it may have pulled some heavy trailers and those will wreck any truck if pulled excessively..

-is the frame rusted? we are talkin excessive rust not surface rust..

-is the front end in good shape? u dont want to have to rebauld one of those..

typically diesel engines have a lifetime of 500,000 to 600,000 miles if taken care of.. if the 01 ur lookin at is pretty clean and runs like a top then id say 164,000 miles is just over broken-in...

i have a 1999 and it has 278,000 and it will walk-off from a new truck and its stock... ;D maybe...

on that info there, mine's got 170,000 just about and it still runs like a bat outta hell.

the next thing is the PRICE!!! make the guy sellin it feel like its a sin to sell u such a "piece of crap" he come down on the price... lol

Depends on what he is selling it for, what ever it is start 2 grand below his asking and make him work with you to something.

well i havent actually checked it out in person..im goin to look at it tomorrow so lets hope for the best..im gonna be lookin at a white regular cab 7.3 as well..tryin to fig out which one would look more badass with a lift and stacks
