Engine serial number

I'm trying to find the Engine serial number on my 06/2000 PSD. I can't read the driver side valve cover, looks like someone cleaned the engine with some type of cleaner making the writing impossible to read. I have also looked very closely underneath on driver side between bell housing cover and oil filter mount and can not find serial number. Does someone have a picture to post of where the number is located? I want to switch to ELC but 1st I want to verify that the engine was manufactured after 2/99, also checking for PMR's or Forged rods.

It is on the block where the oil cooler is bolted to it, on the driver side.
