Which Wheels???
Hey guys, well i'm stuck between 2 sets of wheels right now.
First set are Mickey Thompson Classic Locks. There 18x10. But what I don't understand is as follows. They have a 4.5" Backspace? And -25 mm offset? The second set are KMC XD Hoss's. There 17x9. They have a backspace of 4.53" and a -12mm offset Or also 5.71" backspace and a +18mm offset Now what i'm looking for is that wide stance, i want my tires to stick out, not tuck under my fenders. Which will do so for me? Thanks in advance. |

you need a minimum of 4.5" backspacing, otherwise the wheels will sit too far in and rub your leaf springs when you turn. a 10" wide wheel with 4.5" bs will stick out an inch or so from the fender, probably a little wider with your tires.

Offset and backspacing are two different ways of measuring where your wheel is going to sit in relation to your hub.
Backspacing is the distance between the mounting plate on the wheel and the inside edge of the wheel. Offset is the distance that the mounting plate is moved off of center. That's why different sized wheels can have a different offset, yet the same backspacing. The classic locks are going to work better and look much better for you.
4.5" backspacing and neg. offset are what a pre 2005 superduty needs in order to stick out and NOT rub the springs. DEF go with the 18x10s and do the beadlock ring in tan to match, they're going to look GREAT! |
