early 99 fuel filter replacement-rough running

I just replaced my fuel filter with a NAPA gold 3818. I was told this number
superseded the previous 3518 stated in a bunch of threads about fuel filter
replacement. The new 3818 has the fuel filter cap built onto the fuel filter.
Waited the minute or two for the filter to fill up afterward.
Seemed pretty harmless, out with the old , in with the new. Start up the
engine and it "stumble s when I step on the acclerater( in park). Going out for a drive to see what's up. Hopefully I make it back.

Stumble no more! Problem corrected itself with run time.

No leaks. I checked that out before starting. Seemed to get better with a little run time, probably not enough fuel in the system.

Fuel pump doesnt run as long as the glow plugs. Turn the key on and wait 15 seconds, then off and on again. That should fill the bowl when changing the filter.. What
happened is the bowl was not full
when you started it and you pushed air to the injectors like when running out of fuel. It
will cure it self, but complains when doing it.

no leaks

No leaks around the lid, or in the valley a day afterward. New type filter
came with a o-ring and a square seal for the cap or lid. Thanks , dmd and
tylerwitt.
