engine serial number location

i have an f350 7.3 powerstroke 2000 model yr i can not read the tag on the valve cover is there another way to get the engine seriel number. i need it so i can buy cmp cam position sensor. thanks

I pretty sure I didn't need the engine serial number when I bought my CPS. Not sure, but I think the sensor is pretty generic as far as year model, etc. with some sensors manufacturers being better than others. The International sensor is reported to be the best one, but I haven't went that route.

never heard anybody ask for serial no. for cmp sensor ,just tell em to give you one ,it will work

thanks. i am wondering how is the cmp international blue sensor or should i go with a regular international sensor. will i always have this problem and should i really carry a spare.
