Oil Bypass after oil change?

Hey guys,

So I have all the parts and oil to do a bypass filter install and an oil change. In a perfect world I would do them both at the same time. Problem is that it is going to be a while before my buddy can come help me mount the bypass. I bought the truck used and the oil is BLACKKKKKK. No idea when it was changed last, so I want to change it out.

Besides conveinience, is there any reason not to do the two operations seperately?
