Starting issue/ + LSD Issue? 02 Ex

I have a 2 part issue.

1. in the cold on startup the engine turns over and fires for about 3-7 seconds then dies. After key off/on and restarting I usually am fine and the high idle kicks in shortly after. Wondering if anyone knows what this is and if it a sign of something failing. I would like to do some preventative work if I knew what it was.

2. I have a tow pkg on the ex and when the vehicle gets warm, I tend to get some binding or chatter out of the rear end. I have changed the u-joints to clear the droning humm and pulled the back cover to change the rear end oil (synthetic + additive) and it seems to still give me the feeling that you get on dry pavement in 4wd. This almost always happens from a dead stop when the ex is warm.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

little gelling going on, when you go to start your engine, just cycle the key 3-4 times, you should start up fine, i'm going through the same, and this seems to work

maybe so but I use powerservice with an anti gel. I was thinking something more mechanical that might be going on......... If it is gelling, great. I can just add a little more powerservice next time. I was worried about this being a sign of failing glow plugs or relay, etc...

If anyone has any ideas please chime in.

In my '95, it does the same thing. I think mine is a supply pump issue as it's been leaking for about a year,I just haven't got around to replacing it. Check your pump (look in the valley, if there's fuel, it's leaking) and also test the voltage on your gpr. It doesn't cost anything to look at stuff, but it does cost a lot if you never do...

The 02 ex has no fuel pump in the valley. Just the old trucks.
