tuning vs. chip?

I have a 6.0 where i have not heard of putting a chip on. i use a sct reprograms ecm, tcm. so my question is on the 7.3 it seems most ppl use a chip. im asking because my dad has a 7.3 and i thought about getting him a programmer. what is everyones thoughts on a sct for programming a 7.3?

Egr block off, 4 inch turbo back ss magnaflow exhaust, billet turbo wheel, 05 Harley headlights, S&B intake, XDP coolant filter, tuned with Sct by PHP, BDS Dual rear add a leaf, Firestone ride rite airbags, 2 12 inch kicker subs, infinity rear speakers, mb quart frontdoor speakers, mb quart amp, autopumpkin Android headunit, torque pro.

also at what point should you get headstuds? is a all out race tune fine for stock bolts? or is it really only after you upgraded injectors and turbo?

you don't need head studs on a 7.3 until hybrid injectors and big turbos.

sct is ok on 7.3's.

but just go with a custom tuned chip.

check out powerstruck, also the hydra is a great chip, most tuners load their tunes on it.

Search button up top will help too. Everyone has their opinion on tuning preference. I'd call and talk to various tuners and go from there.

I'm just wondering what the benefits are I tried searching this couldn't find a real answer. No one seems to chip 6.0 but everyone does to 7.3 and no one tunes a 7.3 I get it's a similar end result just wondering how this hole chip thing really works.

Programmer, tuner are essentially the same thing. Their programs that run through the trucks computer system to increase efficiency and fuel optimization while adding performance, mileage

A lot of options out there for all kinds of trucks

Same end result different way of getting it. I guess. I know this part has been asked a hundred times what can a stock 7.3 assuming everything in great shape with a tune lay down to the wheels

Just put this on my truck a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Nice thing is KT will reburn programs for free for six months so you can try some and trade 'em out if you don't really like it or use it. I customized my ecm holder to allow for chip removal without needing to remove the ecm again, but either way its pretty easy to do.

The biggest pro of a multi tune chip, whatever brand, is the change on the fly ability. No need to reflash if your usually driving a eco tune then need to hook up to tow something or leave some ahole in your smoke. Just turn the dial or push the button to your favorite program for that.
