I want to see if my truck is running like it should what do I need and what's it cost

I have been reading all I can for the last few weeks and have come to the conclusion that before I start to try and get more power or performance I need to know if my truck is running the way it should be. So I need some input here what do I need to get in order to read as many of the built in sensors/parameters that I can ? I have a trany, pyro, and boost gauge now. Please let me know what realistically I need to hook up to this thing to get as much info as I can. I do not want to spend a $hit ton of money so if there are products out there that you guys use that work please let me know what they are and where I can get them for a decent price.

Thanks for any and all info.

I picked up the OBDii wifi adapter and the dashcommand app for my iPad yesterday just to play around a little and see what sensors I can look at.

So my question is ......what should I be looking at/monitoring ?

I just want to see if my truck is running as it should or if I need to repair/replace anything.

Thanks
