Gold coolant testing?
I have a little over 51k miles on my truck. It came with the gold engine coolant in it. The manual says not to add any treatment (fw15/16) to the coolant. Is there any way to test this coolant to be sure that my engine is protected from cavitation damage? What do the experts on here think about the coolant filters that are offered as aftermarket? BTW, this forum has been the greatest find for me since I bought my first ('93 normally aspirated) Ford diesel. We're sure getting a lot more power now, though!

If it was my truck...i would service the coolant every 60-75k to be safe and not worry about it any further....i dont trust the 100k interval.....

Yeah, that 100k mile service interval sounded a little too good to me, too. Especially since it coincides with the end of the warranty on the engine!
Do coolant filters really extend the life of the water pumps, or is that overkill? |
