Tranny Upgrades!?!

O.K. so my tranny is slipping really bad, I put in a re-man last year and it never felt good, 2 weeks ago I installed my DP-Tuner and that was it. Talked to Ford today because my re-man has a 3 year 75k mile warranty, go in Monday to hopefully pass/fail tech to get my new stock junk tranny. When I put the new one in, what flavor TC and VB would you all suggest? Now before the "go to BTS or Woods and get a billet, full, bad doggy tranny and never worry" responces come, that is not going to happen. Wife see's warranty, new tranny, won't be down to spend $5K. Just looking to build up what I can with the new stock junk tranny. Thanks!

2000 F-250, CC Long Bed, DP Tuner, DIY Intake, Muffler Delete, Foil Delete, 6" Lift, 20" Incubus, 37" Toyo A/T's, 6.0 trans cooler, Billet converter, BD Pan, more to come..............................................

whats your budget? i can get you upgraded internal parts but not sure if it would be in your budget

here are some stuff you could use to make it last longer
  • 4R100 Billet Input Shaft
  • 4R100 Forward Clutch Drum (Manufactured from 4140 Heat Treated Steel for ULTIMATE STRENGTH.)
  • 4R100 Billet Intermediate Shaft
  • 4R100 1998 & on Racing master Over Haul Kit with, Direct, Intermediate and Overdrive Powerpack.
  • and a TC

all that will come out to around 3k +/-

I think he just looking for small stuff like just a TC from bts and a bts valve body thats it. I would just get those and when your warranty goes and the trans goes again then get a built one. But if you get the TC and valve body you have to rebrun your dp. HAVE TO!! the valve body will now take over the shifting of the transmission not the chip anymore.

you might wanna remove the DPtuner before you take it to the shop, don't wanna give them an excuse to void the tranny warranty.

Wow! I didn't know that I am going to have to wait to have my DP re-burned, those 2 weeks are going to suck And yes you are right on just looking for the "small" stuff for now. I thought I read on here were Brian-BTS, doesn't recommend one of his TC for a stock tranny. Is BTS the the "absolute" to go with for the TC and VB? Budget I'm thinking is going to be 2K, hell, the tranny is free, might as well spend the 2K

nope you dont have to go with BTS.. their are plenty of other companies that make good products esp since your not looking for a fully built trans...

Yeah, I already asked that ? a couple of days ago, I'll remove it Sunday (have to work out of it this weekend), disconnect battery cables for an hour, hook back up, tap the brakes and sounds like I'll be good for the tech to look at it Monday morning.

theirs other company's for tc but your best bet would be to call bts and see what he says on what to do as far as not getting a built transmission but still wanting to make some changes and if he recommends anything like a tc but the valve body i would get if i were u.

Id get a 6.0 TC and a valve body both from John Wood. That should be plenty fine for just a chipped truck
