Security Module???

Does anyone know what the security module runs? Dealership told me that mine was burned up. My doorlocks have been popping up and down constantly and my horn will blow ocassionally. I thought it was probalby the GEM, b/c I did have a leaking windshield and the symptoms match. They said have to replace the security module 1st, to see if it is the problem.

Any thoughts? Sound right to ya'll?

They're not going to charge you unless the security module IS the problem, right?

I was told the security module was def. burned up/no good and would have to be replaced. They gave me a price for replacement and install. $500. Seemed pretty high to me. I'm using a dealership that was recommended by org members as not BS'ing you around and selling you crap you don't need. However, you still never know.

I hear you! $500 isn't too bad for a module, but as good as any place could be, just keep an eye on what they're charging you for what parts/work they're doing. As with any place I've ever dealt with, you can never be too careful!

call and get a price from Powerstrokeshop.com, you can also try Junkyards if you want to go that route. First time I have heard of one going out so they must be pretty reliable, a salvaged unit may be the way to go.
