noob questions

so im new to the whole tuning and upgrading diesel thing.. Ive heard about chips and tuners and programs and stuff. none of it makes to much sense..basically can someone explain in simple terms what you do to upgrade a truck with that stuff

first off Welcome to the Org...

ill start you off with basic stuff you need to do before you install a chip...

first off is
Gauges.. you need Boost, Trans temp, and Pyro (egt)
second is intake.. either a DIY intake or an aftermarket unit
next is exhaust... do a 4" Turbo Back exhaust kit

after all that is done now you can get your chip...

i prefer the Tony Wildman 6 position chip.. it is a custom tuned chip that is tuned to your truck and your mods.. its by far one of the best tuners avaialbe for the 7.3L

now with that said... the stock 4R100 transmission is not that great... a good valvebody and torque convertor would be a wise upgrade... or a full rebuild if you can afford it...

yah do not go that route.... my fav intake is the S&B intake like this: S&B 7.3L Intake

what the hell here is a link to all the other stuff i listed

exhaust: Stealth 4" Budget Kit
