Availability of 4 dr manual trannys?

Wife just had our first child and would like a 4 dr truck with more creature comforts. I currently have an OBS 4dr and think that a 99-03 7.3 would fit the bill. I would prefer a manual trans but I am finding them difficult to locate. How rare is a 4 dr short bed 99-03 7.3?

If your truck is in good shape just keep it and update it.
I've never met someone who didn't regret selling a clean OBS.
You don't really gain a whole lot by stepping into a SD 7.3. They still have leaf springs, still loud, still slow.

Dual SD fuel pumps, in tank mods, CNC Fab bowl retain kit. SDK Tunes. Isspro.
Still pretty slow, just less slow now.

I will not sell my OBS. The replacement cost his higher than the rebuild. This will be her truck. The 7.3 will run long enough to be my sons truck.

They exist but much fewer manual trucks were ever sold. It took me a good 6 months to find a donor truck for my swap... Then I just ended up buying one from the family's fleet anyway.

Please check out my 7.3 Enthusiast Facebook group! All are welcome!

They are very rare. It took me almost 2 years to find one that was not an XL with vinyl seats and vinyl floor and was not horribly over priced. Hopefully you can find one sooner than that!

Congrats, by the way!

They are out there, but the particular configuration is harder to find. Keep your eyes and ears open. When you do come across them, you'll probably have to be less picky with color choice, options etc if you don't want the search to take as long.

More of the 6spd trucks were work trucks, and were reg cab long box, or any long box really. And more XL trim level.
Plan on buying a nice CC/SB lariat with an auto and keeping your eyes open for a wrecked donor truck.
