Differences between the two?

I wrecked my truck the other day and i was wanting to get another powerstroke. I had a 7.3, but i was wondering what is the biggest differences between the 7.3 and a 6.0. I thought about going with the 6.0 but i really liked the 7.3. Which one would be the better choice. I don't really pull much just mainly a daily driver, i put about 90 miles per day on the truck driving back and fourth to work.

Depends on what you are wanting to do to the truck. As far as performance, it is a lot easier to get more power from the 6.0. You can get 400-450 with exhaust and custom tuned SCT. If you start hopping up the 6.0, you have to think about EGR cooler problems and head gasket issues. If you delete the EGR cooler and stud the heads you should be okay. The 7.3 is pretty much a bullet proof motor. I miss my 95 but wouldn't get rid of my 6.0 for anything. In my own opinion, I would gor for the 6.0 but you will get a lot of opinions on this.

better read ALOT before you jump on it. The 6.0 is much more powerful (for cheaper...) but if you look at one, try to stay 05 and newer. many 04s are ok but many of the 03 and 04s are very troublesome. if you do get a 6.0 head studs and a EGR block off are a MUST! the VGT is cool but i HATE the sound of the 6.0. sounds like a jet and is rather annoying to me. a 7.3 with no muffler sounds hott

Of course with the right money a 7.3 can spank a 6.0 but its going to take money.

I picked a 7.3. they are bullet proof (just about). Before the prices tanked on trucks the price of my 01 vs a 05 was half to 40%. I wanted a diesel and hate the 05 front and love the 99-04 style. looking back I wish I would have gotten a 2000 or late 99 so I could have gotten forged rods. O well. Drive a few and decide on what fits you. I like my 7.3 and many 6.0s will tell you they love theirs.

The guy across the stret from me had a 7.3 and totaled it and got a 04 6.0. we were talking and he told me that he liked his 7.3 better. I dont really remember why, it was like a year ago that we talked about it!

i love my 6.0 for hot rodding around in. i have had many 7.3's and still love them. only thing, you are not comparing apples to apples. the 6.0 to me seems like a really hot gas engine with the torque of the diesel and should be run hard. if you go 6.0, keep your foot in it. many 6.0 owners do not drive them hard enough.

O and there is a guy on youtube called powerstrokehelp. about half of what he says is crap, BUT he did a nice set of videos where he shows you the differences between the 7.3 and the 6.0 watch them and you will see a little about the head design and the turbo design and some other things.

I would go with the 7.3. but go and test drive a few and see what you like. but if you get a 7.3 try to get a 99 or 2000.

Just dont judge your like vs dislike on which one goes faster when you stand on it. the 6.0 in stock form will spank a 7.3 in stock form.

Had em both, still like em both. Whatever you do take your time shopping theres plenty of em out there.

true... but i look at it a little different. if the price of a 7.3 is 10k and a 6.0 is 20k you have 10k of toys to add till you equal the 6.0 then the mods come in.

but if you look at is as i got 5k to mod one or the other, yes the 6.0 will spank(and destroy!) the 7.3!
