not starting

my 02 let me down yesterday. I went to start it and nothing happened. The batteries are good and so are all the fuses in the main fuse box. I taped on the starter while a buddy tried it also but still nothing. I checked the DTC's but there were no codes stored. Are there more fuses or possibly a relay that could have failed for no reason? Any ideas???

I'm probably sounding like a broken record, but have you had your CPS replaced? Usually, for most 'no starts', this is the 1st place to look if your batteries & starter are ok & also have no IDM codes. The truck has juice though, right? Like, if you turn your key forward, your dash lights up, radio on, etc.?

Thanks but I found it. It was a 30A fuse that I couldn't see in the dark last night.

what did the fuse protect when you looked it up in your manual? Droppin a new fuse in might not be the end of your problem. I am speaking from experience on this kind of headache. Look into it and let us know.

Well my truck didn't have a manual, I bought it used so I used a Chilton manual. According to the manual its fuse 61 in the central junction box (note: there is no fuse 61 in the fuse box, its actually fuse 113). It is the fuse for the starter relay. I plan on looking into it further when I get the truck home. A word of caution on the Chilton manual for this truck, from what I've seen so far some of the fuse numbers don't match and it also says there is an auxillary fuse box behind the glove box that is not there and a few other things. Now don't bash me on the manual, I love chilton manuals, all i'm saying is be careful.

according to the ford wiring diagram it is fuse 61 in the central junction box. so i'm not sure what you are reading for a number. i looked and the only thing on that fuse is the switch side of the relay and the starter.

I didn't have a ford wiring diagram all I had was the Chilton. So if the central junction box is the same as the main fuse block there is no fuse 61 listed on the layout on the cover of the box. Like I said I bought the truck used so who knows what has been done to it.
