They replace the resistor in the IDM to increase the voltage to the injector to make it fire faster. It usually bumps it up from 120 to 140.

It involves taking apart the ECM and soldering in there, meaning I'm afraid to do it.

remove the inner fender on the driver side and look up behind the rear section of the fender and youll see a box just haning there, thats the idm.

if it means anything, i did this mod along with the ptm2 pcm swap on my early 99 and i could not be more impressed. way better throttle response, way better.

ECM?? NO THE ECM IS INSIDE THE TRUCK BY THE PARKING BRAKE

THE IDM IS LOCATED INSIDE THE INNER FENDER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND AFTER YOU REMOVE IT.. YOU TAKE IT APART AND REPLACE A RESISTOR IN IT TO INCREASE INJECTOR VOLTAGE SO MAKE THEM SNAP ALOT FASTER....THERE IS WRITE UP SOMEWHERE LET ME LOOK FOR IT AND SEE IF I CAN POST IT UP
