now, do a hood insulation delete and a wicked wheel along with the foil delete and youre in business

  • open hood...drink beer #1
  • find foil covered pipe...drink beer #2
  • remove foil covered pipe...drink beer #3
  • find favorite remover*...drink beer #4
  • remove foil and glue...drink beer #5, 6 and probably 7
  • replace pipe...drink beer #8
  • close hood...finish 12 pack

*favorite remover may include any combination of the following; paint scraper, dremel, mother-in-laws dentures, wire wheel on electric drill, that stupid dog chew toy that your dog refuses to acknowledge, or my personal favorite...aircraft paint stripper

Isn't the foil there to keep the heat from the engine from heating the air going through the pipe? Wouldn't you want to leave it there for colder air? Im just curious.

no... it is mainly there for noise. Otherwise both pipes would be done. The cold side is the other pipe anyways...
