Will the 4wd transfer case bolt to a 2wd trans?
Hey all, I have a freshly rebuilt 2wd transmission in my 1999 F250. I spent alot of money on upgrading all the internal parts so I could tow my 24' enclosed trailer without worrying about burning out my tranny.
Now, a pretty good deal came up and I might be picking up a 4wd 2000 Excursion with a V10 gas engine. I'm considering swapping in my 7.3L engine into the Excusion. I'd like to keep my new tranny and the 4wd in the Excusion, so is it possible to swap the transfer case onto my 2wd trans? I know its not a small job, but it'll be worth it. |

if its a 6 speed, NO, it wont work. I dunno about an auto. I think it will work if you change the tailshafts.

Both transmissions are auto.
I'll maybe talk to my trans rebuilder to see what he thinks. I was just wondering if anyone has done it before, maybe I'll be a first lol. |
