What's Wrong With This Pic???: IH CPS

After thinking for some time there are no IH dealers in RI, I finally found one....which happened to be right next door to my wife's old job

. Anyway, I went in to purchase an IH CPS. Tell me what is wrong with these pictures:
This is the box the CPS came in-

My camera's quality, if you haven't noticed, is horrible. But that's definitely an International box you're looking @.
NOW; here's a pic of the CPS-

See something wrong? The CPS is grey! I thought IH CPSs were black. However, the CPS DOES NOT have a Ford stamp on it like the one on my rig has. The p/n on the box is: 1876735C91, is this the correct # for the IH CPS? The guy @ the counter was kind of a jerk, but said that IH is changing the color all the time(????????). Is this, in fact, an IH CPS? Or is this the same turd I've been getting from Ford?

Just one more thing I'd like to add: All of my Ford CPSs came in a bag if that makes any difference.

Improved Blue CPS for 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Diesel

I did not author anything below, just cut/paste..

"International Part Number: IHC#1807339C92 This number has now superceded to an improved version, part number: 1885812C91"

"Original CPS for 97 & up F7TZ-12K073-A (black)
Equivalent Int'l part # 1825899C93 (black)

Recall CPS F7TZ-12K073-B (grey)
Equivalent Int'l part # 1876735C91 (grey)

Copied from another member's post:

Ford Black one (purpleish hue) for the 94 to 96 F4TZ-12K093-C replacing the 4C4Z-12K073-AB, price is 35.00 instead of 194.00 for the old one.
The old IH CPS number for the 97 and up is 1825899C93, it is now superceded by their new grey CPS for 26.00 bucks. 1821720C98 was for the 94 to 96, that is superceded by 1821720C99 which is a black CPS to but sells for 52.00.

I don't know that the 94-97 CPS was recalled, but the 97 & up definitely was.
The 1876735C91(/1876736C91) PN referenced above is the replacement (Gray) CPS for the IH 1821720C99 (Black) CPS. The 1821720C99 is the PN referenced in the OP as passing the CCT/PERDELS on an '02 F350 and is Made In USA.

There are still 400-ish of the 1821720C99 CPS's left in a warehouse in the PNW..."

So basically, the CPS I have, even though it's an IH, is pretty much an F7TZ-12K073-B? Meaning: It IS, in fact, the same turd? I need a grey & black one?

Call Jody at DP-Tuner or Dennis at ITP Diesel. Jody or Dennis will be able to tell you if it is the same or not.

I wouldn't use the "blue" part number at all.

Just guessing but I’d bet both Ford and IH buy the sensor from a 3rd party company who makes electronic sensors and the sensor company upgraded the sensor and changed the color to gray or they started getting a better sensor from another 3rd party company and it took a while for Ford and IH’s inventory to cycle through. Again that’s just a wild guess. I bought my first CPS from IH for $92 way back when Ford wanted $180 for the same dang part. It’s still running my truck just fine but I got a new $20 spare and a wrench in the glove box just in case

I think you're right. Both the Ford & IH CPSs are made in Mexico. Also the price differences were VERY close. I bought one from Ford for $22 & the IH today for $18. I wouldn't be surprised if they were coming from the same mill. It disappoints me though; I just can't get over the fact that IH would actually sell a crappy CPS when the rest of their parts seem to be far superior to Ford's.
