Wife drove off with block heaer cord attached
I know, my fault for not laying the cord over the mirror.
She said, "I didn't even know it plugged in." Oh really? You just step over an orange extension cord on the walk every day! Anyway, it does not work now- coldest day of the year. I touched the element after leaving it plugged in- cold. When the engine is running, it appears oil is leaking out around the element. Has anyone ever changed out the element? Do I need to drain the coolant, oil, or both? How much is the element? |

So the next time that I drain the coolant, i should install the new block heater? I am putting in a new radiator soon, so that may be the time. |

This happens all the time and that much more reason to do the Marinco Mod!! But I have never heard of one causing a leak!! Normally it will just rip the cord in half, I wouldn't wait, if it is leaking you better fix it. I heard powerstrokeshop.com has the heater and cord for $45, sounds pretty cheap. I would get up inside there and see what happened.

if it is the same as my 97 7.3, then its just a bolt like thing that screws on the back of the oil cooler.
is it just the cable or the actual heater element is damaged? cables can be replaced |
