Getting exhaust smell in cab at startup

I have a 01 PS 7.3 and have noticed a strong exhaust smell lately at startup. Could this be the donut at the up pipe. I can't see any black around the firewall insulation or anywhere else. Any suggestions?

Check the up pipes themselves. When I pulled off my driver's exh. manifold to drill for a pyro, the up pipe had fallen out of the top clamp.....& whacked me on the head! I had 2 brand new up pipes made up & also replaced the donut. Make sure, also, that none of your exh. manifold studs have snapped, are loose, or missing.
