Torque Converter Lockup. Help me understand.

I don't know a whole lot about transmissions, and am hoping someone can explain to me how I can tell when my TC is locked. I know the general idea behind TC's and lock up, just wondering how I can tell when it does it. I know you can install a light but I'm wondering about the feel. The reason I ask is I just loaded a new setting on to my truck and it is doing something I have never felt before and was told by the tuner that it is probably the TC locking up.

What I notice is that when I take off from a light in normal traffic, just a little throttle, it takes off pretty quick like you would expect. Then maybe around 1500rpm still in first gear it feels like the engine gets bogged down, and feels like that through the rest of the gears. Same feeling if I go to pass someone and give it like 1/2 or 3/4 throttle and it gears down. The truck still goes and goes pretty quick, just feels like it kind of has a load on it. If I floor it from a light or floor it to pass it doesn't feel like this. It kind of has the same feeling as the EBPV coming on, where you can tell there is kind of a restriction that makes you have to give it more throttle than you normally would. I always kind of thought TC lock up made the truck "get up and go" more rather than bog it down.

sounds to me like messed up tunning and the TC locking up... Mine has been doing the same thing, I have a built trans and tripple disc billet converter. If you take the chip out does it stop doing it? generally the TC lock up happens around 35 to 40 and feels like another ****

Only does it with this tune. Other tunes and stock I don't have the symptom. I kind of thought it usually locked around 40 and made the truck go faster. Didn't know if maybe this tune did something to make it come on differently than normal, but still didn't think it should make the truck feel bogged down.

it shouldnt. Its definetly a tunning error of some sort. I am going the threw the same exact issue, it makes the turbo go all crazy and drives the trans temp up.

When you see the rpm's climbing at the same rate as the speedo you know the TC is locked up. Shouldn't be happening in first gear, I assume this is Elites tuning?

Without bashing the tuner, what one is it? What setting are you talking about also?

Never did it with Elite's tunning. I got a tune from BTS to try it and it is doing it on this tune. Just so it doesn't turn you guys off from the tuning, other than this little issue, I love the tune, and they have been very very helpful with trying to figure it out with me.
