Can I use dexron111/mercon in my 99 tranny. Thanks Shawn:dunno:
100% FALSE!!!!!!!
I hope you get this info in time!!!!
Not only can you use Mercon/Dexron III in your 4R100 it is the Only fluid you should be using!!! You have to be careful about bad info on the world wide net!!!! Look in your manual, it is the only fluid you are suppose to use. The bad part is it stopped being manufactured of June of last year, once the supply is gone it's gone!!! I bought 4 cases.
Ford very clearly says you were not to use the Mercon V in the 4R100 as it will destroy the seals over time, then all of a sudden a couple years ago they say OKAY it's now all of a sudden Okay to use it. Many question why it was now okay to use there were rumors going around about a reformulation that made it acceptable in the 4R100. The truth is though that NO reformulation was ever done this is fact, I researched it myself. There was absoulutely no change made at all to this fluid!!! So why would Ferd say it's okay, it's all about the all mighty dollar. Ford figures by the time the Mercon V starts destroying the seals in your trans there won't be any left under warranty and think of all the money they will make replacing 4R100's!!!! Think they wouldn't do such a thing, look at the CPS issue that should have been recalled years ago, how much money did Ferd make selling them for $169 and all of a sudden they are now under $20, how did this happen. What about the mech diode in the 2001 trucks, why weren't these recalled and replaced in every truck, again it's all about $$$$$ If you want to believe Ferd has your best intrests in mind, then keep living in a fairy tale world. As for me I will keep putting the correct fluid in my trans for as long as I possibly can.

Sorry bud,I'm not misleading anyone,I am simply stating what has been said BY FORD .They made the trucks so I guess I figured they would know what will work and what won't.Sorry but I don't see how the materials in the seals on the 4R100's are made out of something different then the seals on all the other ford trannys like the 4r70w that take the Mercon V.I doubt they are so I think you are wrong on that one.I did see that the Mercon V degraded the clutch materials in the 4r100 and caused them to come apart but not the seals.Think about it a little bit and tell me how the rubber seals are made out of different types of rubber. That doesn't even make sense.Look man, use it if you want to, but don't mislead people on a public forum and claim the oil has been reformulated when it hasn't.
I'm not saying it will destroy your tranny in X amount of miles either, so before you say 'I have been using Mercon V for X amount of time" the damage will be done over time as the fluid destoys the seals in your transmission.
Good Day
