not trying to hijack but i have a simaler question, my buddie just baught a 6.0 and we cant find the outlet plug so if he doesnt have one how hard are they to put in and how much???
Havent changed one myself..It should be located right above the oil filter adapter. The wires come out of the unit ,then go forward towards front bumper.probably tied up behind the bumper. If you have fog lights it can be tough to spot the plug.Hope this helps.
Should look similar to this...taken from the passenger side.
All the blocks are equipped with the heater. You just have to buy the plug from Ford if you can't find it. I haven't done it but I am told they are easy to install.
Not totally true, all trucks from 05 on came with a block heater but the cord was extra, it was part of their cost cutting, like courtersy lights on the door panel and glove box, wheel well liners, under hood insulation to name a few. The cord runs $5 from Ferd. All trucks up until then came with the heater and cord. I have yet to actually see a heater go bad, normally the cord is shorted out from all the pulling on them. This is the reason why I recommend the Marico mod on all trucks that frequently plug in!! Look at the base of the oil filter, should be able to see the cord going towards the front of the truck.
Sorry bud typo, that is suppose to be $45, not $5, the Marinco mod can be seen in my sig pics. You mount the Marinco plug in the bumper or other convienent location, no more yanking on the cord or reaching up inside the grill to find it. Also makes the cord last much longer!! Any ? PM me, any boat shop will have them on the shelf, I even saw they have a chrome one out!! The pics are on page two and my new white one can be seen on page 6
