skips a beat

'01 F350 2 wheel drive dually, 7.3PSD, 53K, All stock except Hypertech program.
Engine will die out at idle every so often, maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 2 months. Changed the fuel filter for the 1st time this past weekend (shame on me). Died at idle again yesterday but cranks right back up.

Only dies at idle? Not while driving?

That is the same way mine acted, I replaced the the CPS and it fixed it. It was weird how it would stall only at idle, but every now and then it would skip while driving. The SES light would come on, but never throw a code. I bought a new CPS off of ebay for $50. Had it in 2 days. It was a factory unopened part. Hope this helps

my stock CPS just crapped out. The stock CPS was a total beeatch to remove. very difficult. must have been glued in. could not have removed it on the side of the road. As gentle as I could be, I still broke the plastic colar when trying to remove. I decided to try the blue IH CPS. It was very, very easy to install. slipped right in. so far, so good. really not much difference. maybe a little quieter at idle??? runs the same otherwise. have not checked mileage but doubt it will change. truck was harder to start than normal the other day in the cold (25°) but then that could be other problems. I hope the blue IH CPS is more reliable.

replace the CPS and WOW lots more power, bought one from Auto Zone, Wells brand, $138.99
