Motor Oils

I was just curious more than anything what some of you are running oil wise in your 99 through 03 7.3L's. I'm just running Delo 400 and changing it around every 4,000 miles and I rarely ever tow anything. I was contemplating switching over to Amsoil synthetic but wasn't totally sure if it was worth it on a diesel or not. I've always ran Mobil 1 in my cars and gas trucks but never in a diesel. Thanks in advance.

Also how often should glow plugs be changed out?

I'm changing my fuel filter around every 10K miles and running Amsoil cetane boost supplement every time I fill up as well.

Right now I'm running Rotella but any of the good name brand oils are good to use. I've heard very very good things about the Mobil Delvac Synthetic. I'd say you could probably increase your oil change interval to 5000 miles if you're always running empty. Glow plugs don't really have a set time that they need to be changed. If your truck starts ok in cold weather you don't need to worry about it. 10K miles is good for a fuel filter but always carry a spare w/ you.

I'm using the Motorcraft 15w40 and Motorcraft filter. Changing every 4,000-5,000 miles. I also change my fuel filter every second oil change.

I've also always ran with Rotella, even in my old 85 6.2L Jimmy. Does wonders for it, it actually cuts down on the smoke. I've always been a "name-brand" type and I've been wanting to try the Mobil syn for my PS, but every darn store that I've checked, i.e. NAPA and all the others, they never even heard of the stuff. I'm just thinking it hasn't made it out here yet. I go with the K&N filter.
