Hey guys I am new here & I need help!
I have a 2003 f250 4x4 7.3L, 104,442 miles. Never any engine work needed. She has started to blow black smoke from the exhaust when excellerating or stepping into her. Not putting it on the floor just passing someone or something simular.
So far I have checked the air filter, pulled off the large intake to the turbo and checked that. She spins freely and really no movement of the shaft. Whats next to check. Thanks Tom |

do you feel like you have lost power? and you dont need to be a mechanic to install gauges.. you just need to pay a mechanic to do it if you dont want too lol.... no really.... you need gauges even on a stock truck.. esp a 7.3L because we have the dreaded 4R100 trans which is a piece of crap in stock form.... your stock trans temp gauge is useless..... it is no way accurate.... its very hard to diagnose whats going on with your truck if we cant know stuff like what boost your running..... black smoke is unburnt fuel.. which leads me to believe your not getting enough air.... |

Thanks for your help. I will start with the air intake, There is a green wire that goes into that hard tube that connects to the turbo. It is some kind of sensor. The tip of that had a grease deposit on it. I cleaned that off and put everything back together. I started her up and she ran ok. I am @ work so I cant test drive her till the AM.
