7.3 PCM reflash?
I recently just picked up a Shuper Chips Flashpaq for my 01 7.3.
I plugged it in, and when i tried to read my vehicle, i came up as Vehicle Not Stock. I called superchips and they told me to go to my local ford dealer to have the pcm flashed, becuase someone had already programmed my truck and did not set it back on stock settings. The tech at the ford dealer told me i can't reflash my pcm and i have to buy a new one! Anyone have any idea as to what i can do? |

thanks for the info. i bough the programmer not knowing someone had already programmed my truck before i bought it. i'm not real keen with the idea of changing my pcm. I might as well just buy a chip and be done with it, and it will cost me less money. any suggestions on what chip i should buy that will work with my truck and won't cost me an arm and a leg? |

Your answer is as close as your UPS store. Jody Tipton (DPTuner) reflashed a spare PCM for me with his 80Econo tune. I forgot what tune it had originally, because it does not matter. Jodi wipes out the previous program and starts with the Ford PMT1 strategy. He then modifies it to his/your liking. I don't know how you feel about the way your truck drives now, but for me, it was like going to a big block gasser. It has MUCH better throttle response, the shift points are spot on and it is generally more pleasant to drive. Do not wait, do it now. You won't regret it. Best of luck, Bill. |

thanks for the info, i may look into that.
I think I'm going to ditch the idea of a tuner for now and try some other modifications for now. I'm not sure what tuner has been used on my truck by the previous owner, but seein as how the truck came from Florida and i'm up in Canada, i don't think i'll be able to find out. I have driven some other 7.3's and a couple 6.0's and mine seems to be the strongest one i have driven out of them all. But i'm like everyone else, i always want more! |
