Shocks

Ok, i think its time to order new shocks. My truck has seem to of started to ride really rough/hard/bouncy over bumps(in a bad way), mainly within the last week or two.

So i think my Pro-comp shocks are at the end of there life.

So my question is,

I'm either going to go with Bilstein 5100's or Icon's Signature Series.

How much better our the Icon's?

In otherwords are the worth the extra $30 a piece?

I dont mind paying the extra if there worth it, but if not, i'd rather save the money.

Difference between the two:
Icons have a clear powder coated finish to protect the shock body.
Bilstein 5100s are CAD plated.

Icons use a nitro steel shaft which is harder than chrome and lasts longer under salt spray tests.
Bilstein uses chrome.

Both issues important in areas that see road salt in the winters.
But the salt can eat the clear on the Icons as well so I recommend spraying down either shock with wd-40 or something similar to prevent any corrosion in the winter months in areas with road salt.

Valving and ride quality are very similar assuming you'd run the 5100s valved specifically for the Super Duty.

Hope this helps.

That helps a whole lot.

I was actually planning on more then likely ordering from you guys, whichever one's i go with.

Do the 5100's come valved for the SuperDuty if i order them from you guys, or is that something extra i have to get done.

Are the Icon's already valved for the Super Duty's?

Yep, the 5100s for your 4" lift are valved for the Super Duty.

If you had an 8" lift, then the answer would be no.

All of the Icon shocks are valved specifically for the Super Duty trucks.

I went with Bilstein 5150's dual set up and am very happy with them. I went with softer valving seeing as how I went with duals.
