auto's can be reliable but if you get a used talk to the owner about the tranny and see how many times it has been replaced when the last time it was replaced and if they did a heavy duty rebuild, if so by who? i would expect any where from 15-20 mpg depending on how you drive and how the truck is set up and what kinda condition things are i it could be less.

if you can find one that no one has played with (stock) you know it has not been pushed then you can set it up according to what you want and yes the oil pans do rust out and you do have to pull the motor quick suggestion if you buy one that is pretty solid with just a little rust use some rust neutralizer on it i already replaced mine about 3 months ago and im using bill hirsch's miracle paint to keep it from rusting up again goodluck
