I have a 2001 7.3 ccsb 4x4..I have enjoyed mine.I had the trans rebuilt with 105,000 on it,was slippin a lil.Other than that ,nothin major, just what I would consider routine fixes. As for the mileage, that will vary from the warmer time of year and the colder time.Without my programmer, with the 265s (before 285s) and no mods, driving like grandpa on sunday@65 I can get roughly 20mpg on realtively flat area driving. Now with my programmer and 285s and listed mods,at the same speed I can get around 22mpg.Hope this helps.

I gat about 15.5 now with the winter blend fuel. I have a DP-tuner, and I weigh about 8000lbs. Thats driving hills and backroads of VA. Not much hwy at all. And i'm not very nice to it. This is hand-calculated.

It is a crap shoot i've learned with these trucks some guys get like 12, and some guys claim 20+. Whatever it is, don't trust the overhead display....THEY ARE NOT ACCURATE especially if it has ever had a programmer or chip on it.

I wouldn't buy a truck I couldn't take home for a day or so, so I could check it out thoroughly.

Check out this thread, it may help you.
What to look for when buying a USED 99-03 PSD

I get anywhere from 16.2 mpg to 20.4 mpg solo with mine, depending on the type of driving I'm doing (hiway, stop 'n go, etc.) and how fast I want to get to where I'm going. I think 2002 was a fine year for this truck.

I get about 13 in the city but i have a heavy foot. On the highway i get about 18 but that is with 315's and a 3.73 rear end. So when my speedo says 65 i am going about 71. Check the rear axel ratio because it will make a difference
