Does this seem right?

Ok I know questions like this get kinda old, but I'm curious about my trucks performance, I guess I don't really have many similar trucks to compare to. So here's the deal. I almost lost to a V8 grand cherokee. Not a new one, like a mid 90's, not a 5.9, just the 5.2. Almost certain it was stock. I didn't spool, just hit it at green. He kinda got ahead due to turbo lag (not even half a car length), but all the way to 50 or so the best I did was his front bumper at my front tire. Once I pulled after the turbo lag we stayed right next to eachother. Just doesn't seem right to me, I know it's a lot lighter but still.

well... what kind of tuning you running from elite?

i would say it woudl be a tuning issue.. no way i would lose to a jeep in my truck... but im also running a TW chip... i have never tried any of Elite's tuning so i can say if their good or not... but i can tell you that the best tuners out their for the 7.3L is TW and DP

on a side note what PSI were you runing? could have a boost leak..

Im on the 140 tune. I know DP said they can't do as good with the SCT as a true chip, so I would assume the same with Elite. I'm getting over 25lbs with the boost fooler, so I wouldn't think I have a leak. My truck feels like it has no top end, but I haven't noticed signs of the TC slipping, and am assuming (and was told by Elite) that I'm not able to supply the fuel for the tune (stock HPOP and Injectors). But I wouldn't think that would hinder me to the level of a cherokee.

yah your stock setup will not support tha tune.. reason why a custom tuned should be tuned to your truck specifically.. your truck stock can only see around 80 to 90 hp over stock.. so no point in putting a 140hp tune if your stock setup wont support it.. your truck will prob run way better with a tune specifically designed to what you got...

but enough of my rant....

you should be seeing around 30psi easily... but since your reading off the electronic sensor you cant tell what kind of boost your really seeing because of your boost fooler....

if you feel your truck is underpowered call up Elite and let them know. maybe he can make you a better tune... if not... dump it and get yourself a chip... you want a real set of gauges anyways... you need to accurately read your boost and your trans temp... your stock OEM trans temp gauge is just a dummy light and is very inaccurate.

my 2 cents

I've got the real gauges too. Thats where I'm seeing the 25+ sometimes pushin 30.

Jeez Raul, are ya slippin? I don't have a stock trans temp. LOL.

I know you're right on this, but I was assuming that when they needed my strategy code and what mods I had that it was somewhat custom tuned for my tuck specifically. I kind of went with the 140 just to have the smoke when I wanted it, but at the track it was the fastest of my tunes (80, 120,140), so I've kind of stuck with it.

I've talked to Elite (not Tadd personally) and they basically just said it's the fuel. So I'm going to try and talk to him since he writes the tunes. And I've been tempted to just go with a chip.

Thanks for the input

Sounds good to me. If I get some damn spare time, I just never see you between my house and school, since I practically live there lately. I've kind of wondered how the Bully Dog does on our trucks.

Not a problem just had to give ya crap about it, since I've rarely seen it happen.
