drain or not

quick question. do i need to drain the oil before i remove the oil cooler. i kno the coolant needs to be drained. just wandering. trying to save some time. will change oil but not right away.

I believe if you just remove the filter most of the oil will drain out of the cooler. Easiest way to drain the coolant is to remove the block heater element. Drain into 5 gal bucket.

The pan is lower than the cooler so the answer is no.
