New Turbo

Hey guys I want to get a 38r for my 2003 f250. Ive heard you only get around 30 extra hp with stock injectors. Would you get more hp if you upgrade to stage 1 injectors? Also, will the 38r fix turbo surge?

You've posted in the introduction center, unfortunately only Moderators can move posts, the link above would be a good place to post your question, someone there should be able to help

New Turbo

Hey guys Ive just put in an afe air intake, 4 inch turbo back straight pipe, and a chip from dp tuner. Im thinking about getting a new turbo pretty soon. Ive been looking at the gtp38r and have seen some pretty good reviews, but ive also read that it will only give you around 30 hp. If I get bigger injectors will I get more hp from the turbo? Also, ive been experiencing what I think is turbo surge will the 38r fix turbo surge? Im clueless when it comes to this stuff so please give me all the advice you have. Thanks!

With stock injectors, you may not see any HP gain at all by just adding the GTP38R. The turbo isn't really there to create power, but instead to support it. It does definitely move more air, eliminate surge, and is louder than the stock turbo, but you will not feel a seat of the pants difference.

Matching the GTP38R with a set of 160/30 injectors will for sure give you a bump in power which you can feel. That is the perfect combo for an otherwise stock truck in my opinion.

We can get you setup with the turbo and injectors if you are interested. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

38R is a fine turbo, it would be well matched with a set of stage 1's... However I would look at a Brute 66 from Dynoproven or even just a billet compressor wheel from Riffraff diesel...

That wheel right there and a set of P.I.S 160/30's would put you right at 400hp...

Ok ill have to learn how to use the right threads I think I have it figured out now. If I were to get bigger injectors with the 38r would I have to upgrade my transmission? Could I just get the trans command from banks or would I have to get a whole new torque converter?
