Oil???

What typeof oil, SJ, CJ, CJ-4, etc..., is best to use in the 7.3?

I know the oil manufacturers started decreasing the amount of zinc in their oils sometime ago... Does the 7.3 PSD require a high zinc oil?

My truck is a 2000 7.3 six speed dually...

Thanks in advance!!!

rotella t and delo 400 in 15-40 are probably 2 of the most popular dino oils used in the 7.3, or any diesel motor for that matter. I dont know the specifics on zinc and stuff though. I just know these are 2 really good opils

Sticking with any major brand of diesel oil that meets Fords specs is fine. As already said Rotella, and Delo have provided excellent UOA reports, the Delo will run the moly up, but that is becase of it's make up. I know many who use Wally World diesel oil as well with good UOA reports. Mine has seen nothing but Rotells except for 10K with Delo.

I'm using CI-4+. Other popular choices are CJ-4. Whatever oil you choose, make sure it is diesel rated. SJ is NOT diesel rated.
