New to 7.3s

Had a friend of mine tell me about this site some time ago. Finally got myself a 99 F250 7.3 , Has a K&N Intake , and Looks like 4" Straight Pipe no cat or muffler.

He keeps mentioning the K&N being bad but I can't find any reason why. I have tried to find stuff around here but K&N is a crappy search parameter.
Happy to finally be running a diesel..

Here is a few pictures

great looking truck man...

the K&N lets too many fine particles into the turbo causing it to dust the turbo....

their are a few pictures around here showing what it can do....

either way....

congrats on the new rig and welcome to the org...

Thanks for the compliments... I got it from a buddy . He bought it at auction. It was sold off from a Repo in Florida. Just broke 199k Runs like a champ though. Seems well taken care of aside from the oil leak.

Welcome and dump the K&N I would also send off a oil analysis on your next oil change. You won't believe what they can tell you about your engine!! Do you know if it is a early or late 99? There were many changes made mid year. You probably only have the puny oil to air trans cooler, I would get gauges ASAP, although from the bed it looks like it was used to tow, so the PO may have added the cooler in the rad, or another OTA cooler. I would change all fluids and filters ASAP!! Just something I do with every vehicle I buy.
