The K/N drop in filter is the problem. I use a K/N on my DIY intake and have had no problems with it.

Same here I have the round K&N never had a problem only got 126k on it. It does have an outerwear on it though saves on cleaning the filter. Nice rig.

Actually this isn't true!!! yes the drop in's have a sealing problem, but I have seen many K&N open element filters will huge holes in the gauze material. It all depends on where you drive. If you are mainly in the city the K&N may perform okay, but if you are in the country where dust is higher, construction sites, out in the desert, these filters simply don't hold up at all. I would be doing oil analysis every three months and keep an eye on Silicon levels.

I was told it was a 6" Lift.
It had 35"s on it. He wanted to keep the tires , and wheels so I hve some ****ty 33"s on it now that are toast. Oh well ... I took to to dayton , Oh and back Sunday and had no issues. Got 16mpg pulling a car behind it on the trailer. I need to get some 35's to keep the rpms down though. Thanks for all the good comments.

So the pics are w/35's right and what looks to be 18in Diamo's?Sorry,Its just that I have a 99excab long box also but red and you don't see that many lifted so I'm trying to get an idea of what mine will look like when I put a 6incher on it in the spring. Also ,check the build date on the door jam so you know if its a early 99 or late 99 for your future referance

It's an early 99. And the wheels were 17's. According to fabtech only make a 5.5 , and an 8. It measures around 6" over stock so I figure it is the 5.5.
