This may be a new offering because about three years ago there were several of of us helping Dave look for a ring and pinion set that would fit his diff. Can't recall now what the hang up was but at that time there was nothing made for a direct replacement. IIRC it was Randy's that helped him work something out. With the price of diesel maybe somebody saw a need for 3:08's in the Superduties, sure would kill towing!!

Let me also say that if you are just filling up until the pumps shut off, this is probably the source of your innacuracy! Flow rate, air temp, and many other variables can affect when it actually shuts off. We always tell folks to fill it to the brim, to the point where you can actually see the fuel in the filler neck and it doesn't go down. This takes a few minutes at the pump, but it is the ONLY correct way to figure milage. Just filling up til the pump shuts off can easily be off by a couple gallons.
I am going to back out of this thread as I have seen where they go in the past. I wish y'all the best,

NCH

dude that is awesome that you got 25.

I can totally belive it, I have made 23.97 MPG on my 02 going from Dallas Georgia to New Bern NC. and i that was hand calculated the trip to Georgia netted less at 21 mpg but on the way out there i Had to smoke check a Camero. And yes i top off the tank up into the filler neck to make sure the fuel is at the same level. I have made Numerous 21 and 22 mpg tanks only the one 23.97 though.

I dont see how some people can't believe that. My buddies uncle bought a 02 7.3 recently and on a trip up from south carolina his lie o meter said 21.4 he crunched the numbers and he was actually getting around 22. Its highly believable. I have a 02 on 38 with 3.73's and at 65 I get 19.5 so 25 at 60 is very believable.

[quote=NCHornet;788033]Hank,
Call BS on whatever you want but you won't offend me!! I have been around these trucks way to long. I know they are capable of and what they aren't, I also don't believe everything I read on the internet. The person I was speaking of above is named Dave Whitmer, he is a member of another forum I was very active on for years, and I have spoken to Dave on several occasions, the last when he was building the canopy for his truck.
Here is a link to the add in Diesel Power featuring his truck!

i dont care how long you have been around these trucks i have been around and worked on all diesels since i was 5 years old i am now 26 and now manage a diesel fleet of all different kinds of diesels and anyone that has been around diesels for that long know that every diesel is different.maybe your truck does not get that kind of mileage but mine for a fact get 20 all day long and my foot is not too light if you know what i mean and i am not even running custom tunes so call bs on all you want but it is very believable.i have seen the same type motor vary hugely on mpg .

On a trip from So Cal to Idaho I got on average 21.9. Yes hand calculated and all I did was Edge Juice with Attitude. I know some people don't speak well of this system but I am very happy with it. Driving around town I normally get 18 mpg.

I find it hard to believe that 38's on stock gears get anywhere near 19mpg, unless of course downhill both ways with a tailwind. I've got 38's on 4.30s and have gotten 16 once or twice. Other than that, 12-14mpg. Mine is a 2000 F250

I did a 1600 mile trip through washington and set the cruise on all speed limits. Trying to be light on the throttle. I tried to make it as accurate as I could without having a the top gauge. I would let the fuel light come on each time for fill up so I calculated it to be approx. 24 gallons from the fuel light. I was hitting 485-500 miles per tank, so that would be approx. 20.5 mpg. Some of this was at 5000 feet some was at 500. Im sure elevation matters. More 02 through intake for more efficiancy. If guys are at sea level then see 24 mpg a possoibilty because especially if the have stock tire size, I am running 35 toyos.
