Remote Start Issue

I got my latest truck back in June of this year. Every once in a while when I was locking with the keyless entry my truck would try and turn over. I had no idea what would cause the truck to try and turn over when I had the key in my hand and wasn't even in the truck! My buddy was convinced the truck was haunted or something! Also every now and then (like 1 time out of 10) she'd randomly cut off within 1-3 minutes of driving (after warming up properly).

It took about a month but I figured it out (with the help of some buddies) that my truck had a remote start installed on it and the trigger was hitting the lock button on the keyless entry 4 times. I never even knew you could do a remote start on a diesel. But it never actually starts, it just turns over once and that's it. I'm guessing that the remote start doesn't continue long enough for the diesel motor to catch and fire up. I'm also guessing that my shutting off problem is also due to the remote start. Should I just remove the remote start completely or is there some way I can adjust it to run longer.. and why would it cut my truck off?

Any suggestions?

if it is actin up i think i would disable the system, it may get bad enough to shut you down and not restart or run the batteries down r burn the starter up if it gets hung if you want a remote start , buy a new system

im with scuffy, disable it or if you really want one, get it professionally installed. Unless you have some electrical knowledge, you can really F stuff up if you dont know what your doing

(I have a Viper system sitting in my closet that I still havent installed )

There are lots of remote starts for diesels, there is a delay between when it is activated and when it starts cranking to allow the GP's to warm up. Yours isn't working, and to be honest with you, you will spend as much trying to fix it as you would to simply buy a new unit. You can get them combined with a alarm too. Stay away from the cheap junk on Ebay and stay with a good quality system like Viper!! I would yank it as well!! Your remote start that is!!!!

Mine used to act up all the time, make sure whoever installs your new 1 knows their stuff.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna remove it... I'd like to eventually get a new one, but money is tight and I got a bunch of more important stuff higher up on the list before I get a new remote start (like stacks and a lift).
