EGT Probe?

Can anyone tell me where you are suppose to install the EGT probe. I have been told many differant thing and would like to know the right place to install. Figured this is the place to find out. Also what numbers are good? Any help ? Thanks...MD

Drivers side exhaust manifold is the correct place for it. 1250 degress and under is normal temps. short bursts above that are ok

I removed the front drive shaft, to get it out of the way. I drilled a hole in the pipe goeing from the exhaust manifold to the turbo. Tapped it and installed the probe. reinstalled the drive shaft. The material thickness on the pipe is thin so it wont take long to get through it. Try and stop once the bit breaks through so you don't leave shaveing inside the pipe.

No need to drop the driveshaft, just look under the truck from the drivers side, you will see the union where the manifold meets the up pipe, go about 1 1/2 or so from this union and drill it there. You can also use a clamp on method where you don't have to tap.

temp range: I'm averaging just under 300 @ idle, around 600 cruising @ 60, and haven't seen the prior mentioned upper limits (yea right)
my probe's in the drivers exhaust manifold as pictured.
