early 99 losing boost - any ideas?

I have a boost gauge in the truck - I have noticed that it reads lower then it use to when I first got the truck. At 1200 rpm it is now reading 1lb of boost instead of what I think I remember it use to read 3 to 5 lbs. This is not on the chip. Truck also takes a lot longer to kick in and move for passing then it use to.

So my question is what do I look at - Turbo broken fins, inner cooler, system tubing leaks or all the above?

Truck / motor now has 188,000 miles on it. I have also been wondering when injector service/replacement should be done?

Thanks for your help. Daryl

At idle means nothing.
You could have exhaust leaks pre turbo, which will be sooty areas by the up pipes.
Intake system could have leaks - pressurize manually and test.

check intercooler piping boots for cracks(6 boots total) and up-pipes/manifolds. boost should be alot higher, my 02 at full throttle is up in the 20s according to my torque app i believe boost should be in the high teens to 20s for stock with the pedal fully pressed.

completely stock truck max boost is about 16 psi.

you most likely have a boost leak, you can build a boost leak detector or buy one from dieselsite.

on a side note my ipr was faulty and when i replaced it i gained 3 psi of boost. it wasnt reading correct oil pressure.
