Help a girl out here...Instrument Cluster...

Lately I have been having issues with the Ex. Still love it but am getting tired of the battery light flickering off and on. It throws no codes and the Ford house says that the cluster is bad. The Ex has been through all sorts of diagnostics and everything comes back fine time and time again.

Sooooo...here I go looking for a replacement cluster. I am having a hell of a time finding a new one. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'd rather just do the installation myself and not pay Ford house prices. I found the white face that I will be adding to the new cluster already

Second, I did find one which was salvaged from a wrecked Ex at a decent price. They state that the Ex was wrecked it had 79,000 miles on it. Now, does the milage that is on the cluster transfer over once it is replaced? How does it work with a new one? Does the internal computer hold the milage? I'm completely lost when it comes to this!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

do you have the digital odometer? if so, the mileage on the cluster will be the mileage you see on your truck. I believe thats correct.

try Ford Parts Discounted

I would alos look on ebay. you can always find stuff there thats in good shape.

It sux that a little problem can be such a pain. I know how that is. Good luck finding it!

Yes, I have the digital odometer

I keep on finding the clusters for the 7.3 with the analog odometer, and the one for the late 03s that was made for the 6.0s. Mine is the 2003 with the 7.3 (production prior to 11/02).

Hmm..trying to find a part number...

This has turned out to be a nightmare. I am at my wits end with the battery light. I am honestly considering disabling the light for good

yeah, might be your cheapest thing. course, cant you monitor amperage output on your outlook monitor?

Parts for the SD pickups and PSD Exs are HARD to find.

b4 you pull the cluster out, check the connections to the alt and maybe jiggle them to see if the light goes away.

my alt light comes on and off and flickers if the single contact on top of the alt is loose. autozone checked the alt and said it failed. then checked the charge output on the batts when running and passed.

I had the same problem with mine. Took it to an alt. rebuilder and he said this happens all the time. He replaced one of the connections and hasn't happened since. That was 5-6 months ago.

the cluster milage is the milage you will see unless something has been changed since the last cluster change i did.

My old work truck did that all the time at higher RMPS. Eventually the alternator went out so we replaced it and I haven't seen the light since

Before I replaced the cluster I would yank the bulb out and put a voltmeter in.
