noise? dont know what

I have a 2001 F350 and when I am driving under normal conditions sometimes I hear a high pitched whine and I can feel a really low growling vibration on the gas pedal, the high noise is only there when I am not accelarating. When I am towing it's louder and sometimes there is also a several other noises along with previous noises. It is sounds like it is in the motor, transmission area. Could this be an exhust leak near the turbo ?

P.S. Sometimes i can hear a wine like a power steering pump and it sounds like it's under the truck.

Have you checked the tranny fluid. Smell it to see if its burnt or if it is a very dark red. It sounds like it maybe the tranny pump or torque converter. Hope this helps.

You say that the fluid looks good and smells fine. Is it low by chance? A noise like you are explaining sound like air in the trans pump. How many miles on the truck. Have you ever changed the tranny filter? The other thing i mentiond was the torque converter. I have read on other sites that they are known to go bad. It has something to do with the vains inside. Does the truck shift alright or does the tranny slip and feel slugish? Also is the truck a 4x4? If it is try shifting the trans. case into hi and low and see if the sound goes away. Let me know what you find. I'll try to help you figure this if i can. Good luck!!
