question on the muffler delete?

I am considering doing the muffler delete on my 01 7.3 on account of i cant afford the exhaust kit i want right now. Is it going to effect the truck in any way other than noise can i expect any power gains or EGT drops

you can expect some egt drop, a maybe a little power increase. But nothing like you would see with a 4in

i have a 01 lost stock mufler and put a wiliams big truck muf which is a strate shot thrue,runing a sniper power unit set at 75hp and boost controler puting out 18#of boost,and a k&N filter,have not instaled the wicket wheel yet and the truck will smoke the tires by just stomping the throtal

It seemed to allow things to spool faster, and the butt dyno reported a small increase in power. I will say that what others have said about this mod LOWERING MPG is true! You will want to roll down the back window and listen to your truck, not to mention making some noise for the dodge and chev boys at the fuel station when driving by. This has gotten me into a few light to light runs...again lowering MPG! Its well worth it and makes it even more fun to drive your truck!

As to the original question. What you can expect is a little cooler EGTs, really distinctive exhaust note/turbo echo (Very pleasing unless you are the poor slob standing on the sidewalk next to the stop sign one is pulling away from. Not loud in the cab, but very loud outside.), and a more efficient exhaust cycle, which translates into a slightly snappier throttle response.
Rip that can off there. You will enjoy it.
I roll with my passengers side back window partially down alot just to hear that sweet sweet sound of massive amounts of power and torque.

"Blizzard" The big white bio-burning 03 7.3. 6637, straight piped stock exhaust, and a "New" secret blend of Haul asBLEEPsing mods and upgrades. Suffice to say, its not the fastest, but it quite possibly is one of the quickest.

I did it to mine for the same reason. Ill be upgrading to a 4in exhaust when i get back stateside but i have not disappointed. the sound of the turbo comes out nicely.
